A Whole New Way of Towing!

Trailer Toad is a weight bearing towing device designed to redistribute the tongue weight of your trailer alleviating the stress on your tow vehicle. By carrying the majority of the tongue weight, the Trailer Toad keeps the tow vehicle level and prevents sagging or bottoming out when under load.

Trailer Toad also takes the stress of the pounding bumps of the highway off of the frame of the tow vehicle and transfers it to the axle and tires of the Toad. Long lasting strength and durability assure a quiet and smooth shock absorbing ride. It also significantly reduces wear and tear on the frame of the tow vehicle and premature failure of suspension parts.

The Trailer Toad is available in 3,000 lbs. tonque weight capacity in white or camouflage. New features for 2007 model include poly fenders which are much lighter than steel, solid bar stock rear attachment, kickstand to support the Toad when stored and a stronger draw bar attachment.

Questions and Answers

Won’t those tires and bearings burn up?

Tires are 935 lb. rated and the hub assemblies are larger than are used on most automobiles. There were 15 test units that put on over 20,000 miles on them and there were no bearing failures and the tires sustained only normal tire wear.

Doesn’t it need lights and turn signals?

No, it attaches firmly into the receiver and does nothing more than extend the receiver 22 inches. All pivoting and turning takes place on the ball end of the receiver and the object being towed would have the turn signals and lights.

Is it considered another axle?

Yes. When traveling the turnpike with weight on it, it will be picked up as an extra axle and you will be charged accordingly.

Does this mean that I can tow more than the recommended weight for my vehicle?

No. The Trailer Toad, though a weight bearing receiver that allows the tow vehicle to pull the trailer and not haul it, does not give the tow vehicle the ability to tow a heavier than recommended load. It does make it possible to tow the max load safely keeping the tow vehicles front wheels firmly on the road allowing more full steering and breaking stability and reducing the risk of structural frame damage to motorhomes used for towing.

Does it reduce sway?

Properly installed, it will reduce the amount of sway that is passed on to the tow vehicle. It will eliminate most all bounce from being transferred from the towed trailer to the tow vehicle; thus retaining full road surface contact between the front wheels maintaining all steering and braking capabilities.

What is the weight capacity?

The unit will the 8” wheels is rated for up to 2,000 lbs tongue weight. The 10” tire unit is rated for up to 3,000 lbs. tongue weight.

How do you back it up?

Simply hook up the reverse lock bar to a pin on the axle and that will lock the axle. This creates a solid frame and backing up your trailer is done like the Trailer Toad isn’t even there. Simply unhook the reverse lock bar and you are ready again.

Warranty?

Ninety days from date of delivery on all non-wear items. Looking at the structure, it is evident that only the best materials and components were used in the construction of the Toad. Fifteen test Toads were used for 2 years with over 20,000 miles put on each. There were no tire, bearing or hub assembly failures.
